UI
- You can now ping runes to let your teammates know which type of rune it is.
- Tranquil boots now update movement speed and armor on the HUD when broken.
- You can now click on player names in the waiting for players dialog to go to their Steam or Dota 2 profiles.
- For units with lifetime (wards, illusions), the XP bar is now used to show lifetime remaining.

VISUALS
- Added a new player-only aegis post-death effect.
- Fixed some spells not obeying the “no screen shake” setting.
- Added healing overhead messages for Mek, Chen, Lifestealer, Necrolyte, and Witch Doctor.
- Added bonus damage overhead message for Lifestealer’s Feast.
- Gave Death Prophet’s spirits a unique attack effect when hitting buildings.

SOUND
- Added additional dialog for Earthshaker, Pudge, Storm Spirit, Shadow Fiend, and Doombringer.

BOTS
- Bots on medium difficulty or below will no longer try to interrupt channels.
- When doing Rosh, bots will no longer wait for their optimal tank. Now they’ll start attacking when more than one hero has arrived, and will use the best tank of the heroes present.
- Bots will no longer consider damage from passives as an indication that a human is intending to attack-to-kill.
- Fixed bug where bots wouldn’t use the courier if their stash was empty (even if they had items on the courier).
- Bots will be slightly more aggressive about using couriers that are carrying their items.

The International 2

The International 2 DotA 2 championship has been announced.Na’Vi,DK,Al,Orange,IG,Col are the first team’s that get invited.

The International 2 DotA 2 championship will be held on Seattle at Benaroya Hall,during 31 August to September 2nd.

Information on how to acquire tickets will be released in the upcoming weeks.Stay tuned for more.

Team phantom is back at dotA 2 and they are rocking as always.

Here is the full and the latest changelog for the DotA 2 changes:

GAMEPLAY
- Added Phantom Lancer!
- Fixed being able to use ping to identify illusions.
- Fixed bug where we wouldn’t always upgrade couriers in order of creation.
- Fixed potential dispel threshold being calculated after damage reduction rather than before (fixes stuff like Bloodrage not dispeling potions).
- Fixed being able to blink if you became rooted after you started casting.
- Fixed unit conversion spells (Enchant, Persuasion, etc) not removing existing debuffs properly.
- Fixed Searing Arrows not stacking with Eye of Skadi.
- Fixed Satyr firing Shockwave onto smoked/invisible heroes.
- When the courier returns items to the stash, items owned by the other team are now dropped on the ground.
- Fixed Spirit Bear teleporting far away from you with Return (causing it to get stuck in trees sometimes).
- Attacking units now follow their target and then resume attack orders after getting disarmed.
- Updated attack animation for Spectre, with more impact on hit frame.

UI
- Tranquil Boots regen is now displayed on the HP bar.
- Clicking “No Courier” opens the shop with the courier item selected.
- As spectator, clicking courier button now queries the courier for the current query unit’s team.
- Fixed creepstats drawing for all units when spectating.
- Fixed missing shared cooldown on the first use of an item.
- Extended the health bar above the stats area.
- Centered respawn label when showing death panel but not the buyback button.
- Fixed a case where the cooldown swipe on buffs was not initialized and rotated backwards continuously.
- Fixed top bar timer not initializing
- Selling back a limited stock item within the sellback time restocks the shop.
- Broadcasters can now draw lines in the world.

BOTS
- Bots now use their defense mode desire to determine when to use Glyph, rather than having an independent calculation for it.
- Bots will no longer use items or abilities when they are individually disabled.
- Bots now switch out of “early game” when either team becomes powerful, rather than just when the opposing team does. This prevents situations where one team is roaming and pushing and the other team is still trying to lane.

New DotA 2 Look

DotA 2 just got a new look.

As you can see many changes have been made,including a brand new HUD.To use space more efficiently in wider resolutions adjustments have been made to the layout of the stats section.Move speed is also included as one of the stats which is readily avaible to the players.

Changes have been made to the courier.Now you can easily control him,and in this way you will have less problems getting your item’s fast and easy.

New icons for the items to.Many new items have different and better looks now.

So as you can see many new changes to the dotA 2 look.

The DotA 2  replay parsing tool was also released today.

This tool allows technically minded community members to extract data straight out of game replays

- Fixed non-hero units like Spirit Bear breaking smoke of deceit.
- Fixed Burning Spear counter being reset by BKB.

AUDIO
-Some heroes will now call out to allies they encounter in the field during the early phases of a game.

UI
- Fixed control groups breaking in the case where a hero has unit sharing enabled and another hero tries to control group one of the summons.
- Fixed a case where casting an ability to control a unit (ie. Chen’s Persuasion), then querying the unit before the ability fired would not end up with the unit in a selected state and the abilities would not be usable.
- Fixed damage done to player-controlled units not showing up in the combatlog.
- Fixed attributes tooltip not showing the correct values for Spirit Bear (or other hero-like) units.

BOTS
- Bots can call out “top missing!” etc if an opponent goes away during the laning phase.
- Bots are now more likely to use the Side Shop. They will hold off purchasing items if they think they’ll be able to get them from the Side Shop soon, and are more likely to actually walk there to pick them up.
- Bots no longer forget/ignore units that are reincarning.
- Bots will now use couriers that are holding their items, even if the courier is currently returning to base.
- Bots will only use couriers that are idle in base, so they shouldn’t grab couriers as soon as they stop moving in, for example, the secret shop.
- When a bot dies, if it had a courier en route, it will send the courier back to base.
- Juggernaut is now more likely to use Omnisliash in teamfights, particularly when he thinks he can get all slashes on heroes.
- Bots will no longer purchase items during the hero pick phase of the game.
- Bots will no longer use any of their abilities on Passive difficulty.
- Made Windrunner bot slightly more likely to use Powershot when ganking, and less likely to use Windrun for non-panic retreats.
- Fixed bug that, under certain hero combinations, could cause lane selection to thrash.
- Improved the Team Roam behavior, they should no longer clump up and get stuck, and should deal with any creeps attacking them.
- Increased bot sensitivity to human pings for pushing and defending.
- Increased range at which a non-carry bot will defer last-hitting to a carry bot. Non-hard-carries will now also defer to hard carries.

So far we have talked alot about dotA but we haven’t mentioned an important part “how to play dotA”.

From my previous posts you have learned everything about DotA

Now you must learn how to play DotA.

While playing DotA you can choose only 1 hero,it can be a strength,intelligence or agility one.In order to play DotA you need to play as a team not individually.Now before we go ahead I must explain you the important roles of the carry,support,ganker and tanker.

A carry is the best hero of the team,it’s the hero that needs support and farm.The carry hero has late game potential that’s why you need to farm and die as less as possible.

Example of carry heroes at DotA

Antimage,Spectre,Void,Weaver,Doom etc.

The hero that plays the support role needs to help the carry.If he is in danger and being attacked, go ahead and save him.(it doesnt matter if you sacrifice yourself.If the carry is not farming start casting spells on the enemies so he can farm easily.Don’t take last hits on creeps and don’t steal kills from the carry like a noob

Examples of support heroes

Vengeful spirit,Dazzle,Witch Doctor etc.

The ganker is a hero that always ganks,which means he must have stun or a spell which will reduce the movement speed of the enemy hero or disable him.

Example of Gankers

Vengeful Spirit,Witch Doctor,Bara,Bane Elemental etc.

A tanker is a hero which is always ahead of the team and tanks all the attacks like a boss.A tanker needs many HP points a hero like sniper Can’t Be A Tanker.

This are the basic stuff that you need to know on how to play DotA.

Now that we explained most of the hero roles,we need to explain some important stuff so you can learn how to play DotA.

If you want to be the strongest hero on the lane you need levels and items.

How do you get the levels and items?

It’s easy you kill creeps,you get levels and gold.To get more experience (which means more levels) you need to deny your own creeps.This way you get more levels and your enemy gets less gold.

You get more experience even when you take down enemy heroes (a hell lot more).

We talked about levels and important roles on how to play dotA,what about getting gold for your items?

To get gold you kill creeps and heroes, and you destroy towers.You must be very careful and you must get your timing right,because you must Make The Last Hit so you can take the gold.Last hitting is not easy,creeps will attack each other,your enemy will try to deny his creeps,and sometime in lane you will be 2 teammates and trust me he won’t let you last hit.

If you have choosen a carry there is a chance (if he is a smart guy) that he will let you farm,for the sake of the team.

  • Rune control is crucial while playing DotA.
  • Remember to choose your item’s carefully,ex If a carry on the enemy team has butterfly Get the MKB dude.

In 2011 news came up that DotA 2 was being developed by Valve and Icefrog.This news brought joy to all the dotA fans.

When is DotA 2 gonna be released?

DotA 2 release date is yet unknown.But in my oppinion dotA 2 is gonna be released this summer.

Now we have all seen the dotA 2 tournament which had a nice price pool of 1 million $,so we all know how dotA 2 look’s like.For those of you who have not had the chance to see any game of the tournament or even play it yourself,I am gonna post some actual dotA 2 gameplay pictures below.

As you can see the graphics in DotA 2 are way better than the graphics in dotA.I have played both games and I will make a comparison between dotA and dotA 2,and aswell underline their pro’s and con’s.

DotA vs DotA 2

I am gonna start with DotA 2 as it’s the most recent one.

  1. DotA 2 has better graphics than Dota.You can clearly see that from the pictures.
  2. If you disconnect from the game you can reconnect again with a time limit of 5 minutes,and this in my opinion is one of the best features.Because your computer may get turned off,or even your internet may disconnect etc.
  3. The game is hosted on Valve’s servers so anybody can leave and the game will still continue.For the time that I have played there have been no lags.
  4. When you leave the game the system itself register’s it,and when you get too many you get banned.
  5. Right now DotA 2 can’t be played by everybody like dotA.

I could post a link here where you can download dotA 2.

But that would be useless.DotA 2 can be played only on steam.And to play dotA 2 you need a key.If you do get a key,you can invite up to 2 friends.

DotA 2 is in a beta phase right now.It is being updated regularly (fixing bugs and adding new heroes).You won’t be needing anymore programs like warcraft version switcher,warkeys etc.Everything you need is inside the game.

You can play DotA 2 alone and practice with the AI,or you can play it with your friends.You select the  region where you want to play and click on find a game.If you want to play in the same game with a friend of your’s than you got to invite him before the game start’s and the system itself will put you both in the same game.

After I have said all these things,personally I don’t think dotA 2 will be free like dotA (regarding the price of the tournament and the work that  the company has put into it).

Anyways I will gladly pay the price and buy DotA 2,because I just love this game And I will continue playing DotA 2 aswell as DotA with my friends.

DotA also known as “Defense of the Ancients” is a strategy game developed by Icefrog.

DotA is a downloadeble map extension for the warcraft frozen throne platform.It’s a freeware which means its free to download without paying any money.If somebody ask’s you money for it,than you are being scammed.

DotA is a very popular game these days.There are many tournaments that are organized each year with a nice price on them.We will add a live stream to the site where you can see different matches played by pro teams and even tournament games.The biggest tournament of them all was the DotA 2 tournament (You will find more info about DotA 2 below)  organized by valve last year with a prize pool of 1 million $,and Yes you are reading it right.

dota gameplay screenshotAs you can see while playing dotA you can only play with 1 hero.You have 6 item slots and 4 skills which can be upgraded each till level 4 and then you can add levels to stats.By adding levels you hero becomes stronger,you earn levels by killing and denying creeps and by killing heroes.While you kill creeps,heroes and destroy buildings you earn gold.With gold you can buy items which best suit your hero.Not all item’s are compatible or suitable for every hero.You can choose an agility ,intelligence, or a strength hero.As you play dota you will discover which hero you can play best and which type’s of heroes you prefer.Intelligence heroes have a bigger mana pool than strength and agility heroes,because their skills require more mana than other types of heroes.Strength heroes have more hp than agility and intelligence heroes.Agility heroes can attack very quickly and their base damage goes higher as the game goes by.So at the end of the game they are very dangerous and can inflict enourmous damage.

You can play dotA divided in two teams,with up to 5 players each team,there is even a map where you can play dotA 6 vs 6.DotA can be played on the internet (garena,battlenet) and even on Lan.While playing DotA you will learn that the entire team must help each-other or you won’t win.Somebody must play the carry,someone else the support or the tanker.There are many roles you can play in DotA.
